Chrome extension updated: 1.6

Post by par »

New BETA of YoWindow for Chrome extension is ready.
I have added important modifications from other YoWindow editions.

- New location search.
- Show wind direction with text right inside Inspector.
- Pressure measurement level control introduced.
- Sea level pressure is default for all countries except Russia.
See this topic viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23046

Follow these steps to install the BETA extension

- Download the extension file and save it to your computer.
http://yowindow.com/toolbar/yowindow.crx
- Click the Chrome menu icon Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
- Select Tools > Extensions.
- Locate the extension file on your computer and drag the file onto the Extensions page.
- Click Install.

Please, give the extension a good test.
There are 240,000 active users of YoWindow for Chrome.

The only person who was testing it so far is me.
Unless major flaws found by our community I'm going to release the extension to the public.

Unfortunately Chrome has blocked the usage of extensions which are not in the store...

It loads but can't be enabled unfortunately...

Do you have an unpacked version of the extensions...

If so...zip it and make it available so we can load the 'manifest' after unzipping it with developer mode enabled in the extensions page in chrome...

Edit : users can decompress the crx by opening it with Winzip or Winrar and decompressing it into a folder from which they can load the manifest file in the extensions page in Chrome...
It's quite a hassle but it works...

Hi Pasha,

As Wally has posted, Chrome will not let me use an extension that is not from the Chrome Store.
So I have not been able to test this.

Marty...

Did you uncompress the extension into a folder and then 'load the unpacked extensions' from the extensions page in chrome..?

Make sure that developer mode is checked in the upper right corner...

I did what Pasha subscribed in his original post.

The .crx file downloaded standard to my Download folder.
I opened in the Chrome browser: Menu/Settings.
On the left choose Extensions.

Now from your Download folder drag the .crx file to your extensions page.
Wait a little and choose install.
(It will add a remark saying: Not added via Chrome Web store).

It worked for me and it's looking good.

Fred

PS: I tried in on Windows 8.1
