yr.no is again default forecast for YoWindow

Many of our users have noticed the switch from yr.no to OpenWeatherMap.org forecast recently.
We did this because yr.no servers has become very slow recently.

It turned out that there is an alternative forecast source Norwegian Meteorological institute (met.no).
This organization provides the data to yr.no.
Fortunately, the data are free as well.

The resolution and the variety of met.no data is better.
And the best of all met.no servers are very stable.

We are switching to met.no weather forecast format today.

All YoWindow clients (Windows, Mac, Chrome, iOS, Android, Web-Widget) will be receiving new met.no weather forecast by default
unless the location is NOT inside USA. For the United States NWS is the default forecast source.
This change is effective right now.

Update the weather manually to see the change.

It took us several weeks to write all the necessary code to switch YoWindow to the new forecast format.
We are sorry for the delay.

Also we are kind of afraid to make this big change.
So we are waiting for your feedback on the new weather forecast quality.

YoWindow Team.

Hi Pasha,

I suggest storm.no, is better and has the same weather forecast as yr.no. Also, storm.no can forecast thunderstorms.

Best Wishes,

Valdrin

Do you they have a free API?

Hi Pasha,

I have checked the changing in the Windows, the Android and the browser version, and it seems to me that there is around 6 hours haste for the forecast (after the manual refresh too). For example, the maximum temperature is reached around 8 am local time for all locations (not in the USA). The time when the forecast was issued is also missing, compared to the former yr.no version.

And what is about the actual data? For many of my locations, the current weather is significantly different than in the METAR. :(
Please, let the choice between the data sources if it is possible.

Adrian

Hi Pasha!

Can you search it on google: 'stormgeo api' and you may find something about storm.no.

I still have this problem with the forecast which appears only from the day after tomorrow for all of my locations from Hungary to Australia (except where NWS is the provider). Do you experience it?

Here it is.
For Szolnok, Yakutsk, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, the temperature in the morning is usually higher than in the afternoon, from the third day (it could be possible, but it is too frequent) . The forecast for New York City seems to be correct.
