Papers from the sky, littering my farm

Maybe this is an April Fool's joke, but I just don't get it. What looks like fliers (sheets of paper) are fluttering from the sky and piling up on the ground (in my case, the pasture of a farm). There is something written on them, but I can't make out whether it's letters or numbers, or even what language it's in. Of course, it may just be doodles to give the impression of writing. They move really fast, and when they hit the ground, they curl up. Would you please tell me (1) is this an April Fool's joke, and (2) what the fliers are, and what, if anything, is the message on them??? And what exactly is the joke? Thank you!
