Eclipses

Post by hypernova »

Hi, can I view eclipses using Yowindow? For example, the solar eclipse in August 2017 will be total from Charleston, SC and I was wondering if I could view it using Yowindow. Are the positions of the sun and the moon and the phases accurate in the program?

Hi,

All the sky objects are just an animation for fun.
There's no reflection of the reality.
Although sunset, sunrise, moonset and moonrise times intend to be correct.

Stars and constellations are fictive also.

The funny thing is the moon phase was right so I thought they might have programmed that in!

If they were to make the positions of the sun and moon accurate in the future, I would also like to see the ability to zoom in and scroll around (360 panorama) since modern digital cameras allow these to easily be taken.
