Saving Bug

There seems to be an issue when saving locations that if you do not exit the program after adding locations, the locations do not get saved. I've had this happen several times now where my computer turns off automatically at night and the locations do not get saved for the next session. I have to manually exit the program and restart it to get the locations to save.

This might be an issue of your Windows shutting down too quickly in order for it to save the changes properly..

Slowing down this process needs to done through the registry...

Open the run dialog box...Press the Windows+R key on your keyboard..

In the box type in regedit and hit enter...

Now proceed with caution and navigate to and select the following location...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

On the right pain you'll see a WaitToKillServiceTimeout entry among others...

Double click the WaitToKillServiceTimeout entry and change the value from 12000 (12 seconds) to 20000 (20seconds)

Close the registry editor and restart your pc for the changes to take effect...

The WaitToKillServiceTimeout value can vary...depending on how many programs are running when your pc shuts down...

So this is basically a trial and error exercise...

Good luck...

Thanks Wally. This being trial and error, is 20 sec the longest amount I should set it to?

Thanks, it worked! There was a blue screen issue I was having too that seemed to have to do with Apple Font Manager "trying to access virtual memory that had already been released." It only happens intermittently (it might happen two times in a row and then not happen again for a week.) Do you know what might be causing that issue and how to fix it, Wally?

1. There should be an exact name of the driver file causing this in the BSOD (blue screen of death)
These files usually have the .sys extension...
2. Locate the file by doing a search and add the directory where it resides to your exceptions in your anti-virus software...
3. If this doesn't work out you might wanna rename the file...You'll have to boot into safe mode to do that..
That way the program using that file will have no access to it...and you will probably get a warning each time your OS boots...
You're gonna have to figure out yourself whether that program is useful or not to you...(uninstall if it is not)
Updating the program to its latest version for your OS might also do the trick...

Again...since I cannot lay my hands on your pc...it's gonna be trial & error again...

Good luck...Let me know how things are working out...

Thanks, I haven't had a blue screen yet this week so I think I'll wait until the next time it happens and then I'll block it from accessing virtual memory. The issue might have to do with my installing a custom theme on XP along with customized cursors and icons.

Don't screw around with system settings...

Wally, it happened just once in the past week this is the name of the file:

ATMFD.DLL

It's always the same error- what do you think is going on?

It happens so sporadically it's hard to tell but I seem to get it more when I use a site that uses Shockwave.
