Right. I'm gradually figuring this out. Looks like I have to set up a PWS, and then generate a yowindow.xml file. All seems very tricky. All I want is to overlay my picture on a small (240x150) widget!

Is there a simple way I can do this, please?

I believe you can just leave the PWS parameter out and proceed with the rest. Your image and .ywl file must be available on your server for this to work.

Thanks for replying.

Actually, that's what I did at first. Both the png and ywl are on the remote server, so I really don't know why it's not working.

Tutorial is great for converting images to transparant, for getting things to work we require below or you will only see the sky, clouds and sun/moon and no picture;

It only mentions the crossdomain.xml in the PWS section, but it also applies to the Landscaping....
Refer to below highlighted point 2 in the PWS section;

2. Make sure a special crossdomain.xml file is available on the server where YoWindow XML file or script is kept.
WARNING: YoWindow will NOT be able to access YoWindow XML file or script if crossdomain.xml is missing.

Hi guys...please take a look at

http://meteosantamaria.altervista.org/w ... ow-002.php

using Internet Explorer AND Firefox. I do not know because it happens ... I followed tutorial step by step...crossdomain.xml is ok, the transparency is OK (tested with test.html by nico),link with my pws is ok, yo_sma.png (image file) is in IMG folder, sma.ywl is in the rott of server....but something is wrong!!!

The code of sma.ywl is

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<landscape name="sma" type="picture" id="sma">
<data horizonLevel="189" src="img/yo_sma.png">
<about>
</about>
</data>
</landscape>
I tried ./img/yo_sma.png; /img/yo_sma.png; img/yo_sma.png; I put image file (yo_sma.png) in the root of server...(so the cose of .ywl was yo_sma.png)...I've done a thousand tests...but only firefox works, IE doesn't.........WHYYYYY?????
Who will solve the strangeness will win a million of........ :D

Bye for now
Lucio

Dear Lucio, I have made a couple of experiments, now I am almost sure where the problem is.
In crossdomain.xml
This file must be put in the root directory of the web server.

This is where you have it now
http://meteosantamaria.altervista.org/crossdomain.xml

And this is where Microsoft Internet Explorer expects it to be
http://altervista.org/crossdomain.xml

And my guess is that you are not able to do this on altervista.org

So I would suggest you to change the hosting.
You may ask Herman to host the landscape for you.
